HusbandryWe created this page to help other goat owners with the health and care of their animals. Through trial and error (and the expansive knowledge of others), we learn more each day. But if we've found something that works with our animals we will post it here, hoping to help others as so many have helped us.
Feed : After experimenting with a variety of feeds, we have come up with a combination that works great for us. Here is the recipe:
40 % Cracked Corn 12% Wheat Bulk 12% Beet Pulp 9.5% Oats 9.5 % Steamed Rolled Barley 9.0 % Lamb Balancer 5% Molasses 3% Black Oil Sunflower
We feed 1/2 - 3/4 pound per goat per day during the fall and winter months, along with occasional kelp. In the spring and summer months we feed grain to only the goats who seem to need an extra boost. We always feed free choice mixed hay and free range grazing.
Treats: Our goats love bread, most cereal and banana peels!

Mineral Feeders :
Trimming Stand: ! Isn't t this Wonderful?! Rocky made this out of scraps. It will be a Huge help for trimming and working with the goats. We may make a couple of adjustments, first making the the neck height adjustable, and adding just a small board on either side so they don't slip off. It is about knee height- what a back saver!
